Super easy grab-and-go kids snacks

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but school time is nearing once again. I always have such a hard time finding easy kids snacks that they can take to school, to practice, or just to eat at home. But the other day I was at Walmart shopping for groceries when I came up with a super easy (and delicious) snack for the kids. As an added bonus, each of the products that I purchased for my snacks had Box Tops for Education™ on them! So not only do I get to create great snacks for my kids, but I can also help out their school.

While we’re talking about Box Tops, I want to just mention a program that is running right now with Walmart and Box Tops because it’s pretty awesome. Right now, when you buy a specially marked Bonus Box Top item at Walmart you will receive 5 Bonus Box Tops! That is a big deal because typically Box Tops offer $0.10 each towards school purchases, now you can multiply that for each one you submit!

So needless to say, if I am making purchases anyways, I try to find them with Box Tops on them. If I’m getting them anyways, why not get the added bonus? It’s a win-win!

3 simple steps to easy kids snacks

Now, back to the recipe. It’s so easy, you’ll say, “Why didn’t I think of that?” You’ll only need three things (two ingredients):

  • 1 cup Honey Nut Cheerios™
  • 1 Nature Valley Nut Crisp Bar (I chose the almond dark chocolate flavor)
  • Ziploc® bags (sandwich size)

3 Simple Steps:

  1. Break the Nut Crisp Bar into small pieces with your hands. It’s okay if there are crumbs, you can use those too.

  2. Pour the Honey Nut Cheerios™ into Ziploc® bag, and then the Nut Crisp pieces.
  3. Seal the bag and give it a good shake to mix it all together. Voila! You’ve got a delicious little bag of ‘grab and go’ kids trail mix!

We absolutely love this mixture at our house. It’s the perfect blend of sweet and salty, plus I definitely prefer them to eat that rather than junk food!
