Viactiv calcium chews

With back-to-school season upon us, I’ve been packing my fair share of lunches lately. Of course, I try to provide my daughter with a balanced meal each day – but I also sneak in a little treat that I know she’ll enjoy, and that gives her body the vitamins it needs! Viactiv® chews ensure she’s getting her daily value of calcium, along with other vitamins as well.

We’re a very active family. We’re constantly outside doing things, taking adventures in hiking, biking, running, and of course playing countless sports. So it’s important to me that my daughter gets the necessary nutrients to keep her body healthy and fueled through all of these activities.

I include two of these Viactiv® soft chews in her lunch box each day to ensure she’s getting her daily serving of calcium. And since calcium is one of those nutrients that our body needs, but doesn’t make on it’s own, it’s important to actively supplement it – especially in growing girls. By age 20, it’s been shown that 95% of peak bone mass is present, so this is not the time to skimp on the calcium!

86 percent of teen girls dont get enough calcium

Recently, I also heard the statistic that 86% of teen girls do not get enough calcium in their daily diets (according to a study published in The Journal of Nutrition). We as women need somewhere around 1000 mg of calcium a day, whereas teen girls need somewhere around 1300 mg to meet their daily requirements. One Viactiv® Calcium Soft Chew (500 mg of calcium, and 500 IU of Vitamin D), taken twice a day, provides 100% of the daily value of calcium for most women, plus it also offers vitamins D and K as well.

It’s especially handy that each Viactiv® soft chew is individually wrapped, which makes it very easy to throw into your teen’s lunchbox and help her #BeActiv in her bone health.

CALCIUM “DID YOU KNOW” FACTS:

  1. The majority of Americans don’t get the necessary amount of daily calcium.
  2. 68% of American women are calcium deficient.
  3. If your body isn’t getting enough calcium, it begins to take it from the bones, which decreases bone mineral density and can lead to osteoporosis and osteopenia.
  4. Females are born with a lower bone density than men.

As a mom, I know it’s my job to make sure she is taking care of her body. And when I can help her develop healthy habits, I’m all for it! Plus, when it doesn’t involve swallowing a large pill daily (and instead, chewing on a surprisingly tasty soft chew) it’s much easier to persuade her on it’s importance.

This fall, we’re planning on a trip together to go on a mother-daughter hiking trip. Just one of the ways we plan to #BeActiv! Check out how you can #BeActiv with Viactiv® Sweepstakes for your chance of winning a $500 grand prize!
